INTERNATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
OLYMPIAD (IPO)

Miha Andrič currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of the International Philosophy Olympiad (IPO), where he provides strategic direction, oversees national organizing committees, and supports the long-term development of the event. The IPO is the largest global philosophy competition for high school students, bringing together young thinkers from over 50 countries each year to engage in rigorous philosophical writing and intercultural dialogue.

His connection to the IPO began in 2008, when he participated as a student representing Slovenia. What began as a formative experience evolved into a professional and personal commitment to the event’s mission. In 2013, he began coaching Slovenian students, several of whom went on to win several medals, strengthening Slovenia’s profile in this global intellectual forum.  Appointed National Coordinator for Slovenia in 2018, Andrič took on a leadership role in shaping the country’s ongoing engagement with the IPO.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, threatening the continuity of the Olympiad, he took the initiative to organize and convene the first fully online editions of IPO in 2020 and 2021, safeguarding the event’s international presence and inclusivity in a time of global uncertainty. At these events he moderated discussions with world leading conmporary philosophers such as Noam Chomsky, Michael Sandel, Peter Singer and others.

In 2022, he was appointed member of IPO Steering Board, and in 2023, he joined the Executive Board. His enduring dedication ensures that the IPO remains not just a competition, but a vital space for global youth dialogue, philosophical literacy, and educational cooperation across cultures.

BLUEBONNET
INTERNATIONAL
debate innitiative

Miha Andrič serves as Head Trainer of Judges and Coaches, and Chief Adjudicator of the Bluebonnet  Debate Program in Texas, USA, a unique initiative that blends competitive debate with intercultural education. What began as a single international tournament has grown into a vibrant, ongoing collaboration between the United States and Europe, promoting dialogue, critical thinking, and global citizenship among young debaters.

The initiative traces its origins to 2015, when Andrič met American debate coach Audra Langston during a European debate tournament, where he was serving as Chief Adjudicator and Expert Advisor. Their shared vision for expanding the reach of World Schools Debate led to the founding of the first international WSDC-style tournament in the United States the following year, hosted in Texas in 2016.

Since then, the program has grown well beyond its competitive roots. BLUEBONNET now offers workshops for students and teacher-training sessions, and in 2024 it launched a cultural exchange program, hosting 30 Italian students and teachers to explore the U.S. education system, engage in debate competitions, and participate in collaborative learning experiences.

Through his continued leadership, Miha Andrič ensures that Bluebonnet remains a platform not only for debate excellence, but also for cross-cultural understanding, pedagogical innovation, and international community-building.
